Enormous time gap,etc,etc...here's some news!

Måns is finishing up the recording of the "difficult" third album, though the sessions has definately been the easiest and funniest he's ever been involved in,thanks to the lovely and brilliant producer Lotta Wenglén,a great artist in her own right,(check out her website;www.lottaw.com). Guests are Petter Lindgård on trumpet,Lotta herownself on vocals,Conny Städe on drums and sculptor Karel Becvar (who made the YET figure) on zchechian bagpipe. The album will probably be mixed by Petter Lindgård at Gula Studion. As to who or what label will put it out,we don't know for the moment (nobody's heard the damn thing yet).

After YET came out, Måns put a band together,The Government, great band, great name, great people, busy people ,no time to rehearse, band dissolves! Members were Conny Städe (who is always Måns first choice for a drummer!),Toft Stade (Böss,ex-Ray Wonder,KVLR),Mikael Lennartsson (he and Måns were the guitar players in Teenage Head in their..teens) and Henrik Hamrén (Lasses Komet). Måns hopes to relive the Government some time more fitting for all.

He and Johan Weitner has been making the music for a yet untitled short film by the brilliant Jens Klevje and Fabian Svensson.More details on where and when to come. And,Måns is now the happy bass player in Lotta Wengléns band which led to the aforementioned making of a new album.

Also, there's a reissue of Ossler's Hotel Neanderthal album out on National, featuring a bonus disc of outtakes etc which features mr. Wieslander on a couple of tracks.

FROM THE PARASOL WEBSITE:

Yet is the third album and US debut by Swedish
multi-instrumentalist Måns Wieslander. Måns is a veteran of
the Malmö, Sweden pop/rock scene who has played with Elevator
Adam, Moonbabies, Ossler, King Fiat, (the 26th incarnation of)
The Saints, and others. With Yet, he reveals a collection of
intense and profound pop songs draped in lush, gilded sonic
tapestries. At times intimate and hushed with strummed
guitars, at others cathartic with bombastic guitar heroics,
this is a beautifully assembled and arranged, studio savvy
album bearing a striking resemblance to Parasol favorite Adam
Schmitt with an added boost of experimentation. Yet comes
highly recommended to fans of Adam as well as Robert Forster
& Grant McLennan from The Go-Betweens, Mark Eitzel, Folk
Implosion, Robyn Hitchcock, and Robert Pollard. Picture the
intimacy of American Music Club & the melodic sparkle of Ken
Stringfellow fused with the diversity of Magnetic Fields,
a touch of Jim O´Rourke, Robyn Hitchcock & The Church added
for your pleasure and you're halfway there. The release of Yet
follows the 2000 release of Twin Piloda (released in Sweden
on Payola Records/BMG) and a cassette compilation of early
demos, Crawlspace, released via Best Kept Secret in Italy.
Wistfully rich folk-tinged pop in the "intelligent
singer/songwriter" vein - acoustic guitars and subtle
percussion enhanced by the occasional loop. The true strong
point here, however, is Wieslander's Voice. A strong and
enthralling voice, and is capable of conveying a wide range
of moods and emotions. Working in a sort Forster/McLennan
(Go-Betweens) vein, he aims more for a narrative approach.
If you're a fan of mellow, confessional pop ballads, The
Lilac Time, The Go-Betweens or much of Stephin Merritt's
output you'll enjoy [this]."
Splendid E-zine on Twin Piloda

FROM PARASOLS MAILING LIST

... and now a word from our sponsor: Måns Wieslander

Hej!

I made YET during the pleasant confusion of raising my 1st
child and awaiting a new one. For the first time recording
without my trustworthy sidekicks Ola Frick (Moonbabies) &
Johan Weitner (Elevator Adam) by my side (except for a few
tracks; the best sounding ones??) , I wrote the songs with
one hand & unsolved the mystery of recording them with the
other (being a walking talking technical abomination but
with a good ear, it took me quite awhile ). The proud
perceiver of this monumental task & the results thereof?
I´ve no-one else's butt to kick but my own when/if critical
massmurder spreads.

Songwriting for me is an unadultered, egotripping joy that
mostly succeeds in keeping boredom & paranoia at bay, and I
prefer to believe it is what I was meant to do (to make a
living, I´m currently working as a caretaker at a big hotel,
polishing tons of brass being my #1 priority; if there´s a
god, etc.).

For a consumer´s guide, here´s a list of people I wouldn't
mind having around for dinner: American Music Club, Robyn
Hitchcock, Jim O´Rourke, Paul Westerberg, the Church,
Residents (sending the kids to bed early), the Fall (even
earlier), Television, Ken Stringfellow, Iggy, Bowie + John
Steinbeck, Ray Bradbury, Joe R. Lansdale & the entire cast
of the Simpsons. (Sadly, Rod Serling of the Twilight Zone is
no longer with us, he would be my guest of honour).

Last words: i strongly advice you & your friends to buy YET,
if you like the album (or hate it for that matter) drop me a
line and I`ll write the sender a song for free. If there´s
more than 10 of you out there who thinks the world/thinks
nothing of YET, the songs written for you might be the bulk
of my next album!

Yours sincerely, Måns Wieslander
